Just checking in with you to get some feedback. First, what do you think about the story of Zebina and Mary and their families?
Secondly, what do you think of having moved the blogs to every other week instead of every week?
Please scroll below to leave your comments.
Thanks, Joyce
I prefer your applications to our daily lives-and I look forward to hearing from you weekly. 💜
Hi Beth. You and my daughter–she likes the devotions, too. I just got inspired with this new story. I hope you’re keeping up with it.
Some bloggers send monthly, some more often. It’s been pretty demanding for the last seven years to maintain weekly. Just glad you want to hear from me!
I love your story about Mary and Zebina. I liked it weekly. The way it is now, I forget that I have even subscribed. It seems a long time between chapters.
Thanks, Susan. I’m glad you like the story. Yes, weekly kept your schedule. Never fear, it still comes regularly, just every “other” week. Good to hear from you!
The Mary and Zebina story has been fine, but personally I find myself wondering, “would she really push back against her husband about moving”,”would kids really have that much play time” – I would assume everyone had chores most of the day. This story, in a blog setting, feels like reading two pages of a book with each post. Also, if you have new readers, they may be lost unless they go back and read lots of old posts.
As opposed to an extended story, I prefer to hear about your life, how you see God’s hand at work around you, what He is teaching you, reminders that we are all still learning from Him, pivotal spiritual moments in your past, lessons that teach you something new, etc.
I see blogs as a quick thought you can ponder on throughout the day, or as the Lord brings it to mind. Maybe a thought to share with someone I encounter. But this might just be my definition of a blog. I’m sure there are many types out there.
Every other week posts are great with me. ❤️
Thanks, Julie, for your input. Yes, for the most part wives were under the thumb of their husbands and Seth does take control, but as you will see in the next chapter, Zebina does seek the Lord for her fears. I’m sure you’re right, children were likely kept busy with chores, but surely some time for play at ten years of age. Yes, there are all kinds of blogs, but many are as you describe them and most of mine have been like that except when I write about a well-known Bible character with lots of info from Scripture and basically tell their story in my words, but mostly from from Scripture.
I thought my audience might enjoy seeing what I do in my books, thinking about a lesser known Bible characters and imagining what might be “the rest of their story.” Obviously much has to be imagined with a two-verse happening in the Bible. The goal is to see them as signifiant enough to merit mention and help them come alive for the reader while trying to be true the culture and other Scripture.
Thank you for your insights. That’s what I ask for.
Joyce, as long as you blog consistently, I think every week or every other week is okay. Your story is an interesting change from typical posts.
Thanks, Diana. I”m enjoying the change as well. Writing about Biblical characters is my joy.
I have loved the story of Mary & Zebina. Keep it coming!
Thanks Glenda for cheering me on!
Joyce, I like the story of Zebina and Mary. I am eager to read the next episode. I appreciate your writing, as often as you can. Brenda Johnson
Thanks, Brenda. Your eagerness makes it all worth the effort.
First of all, that’s a great picture of you!💗
I love the story line of Zebina and Mary and every other week would be fine.
Thanks, Sheila. I appreciate you reading consistently.
Your story about Zebina and Mary and their families was enjoyable to read. You made the characters seem real with their interactions and individual musings.
Whatever works best for you—weekly or biweekly—makes the most sense. You are the writer and must feel positive about the decision you feel is best.
Thanks, Karen. Making scripture and its characters come alive is the goal.
