More Food for Thought

As you can see things are starting to change. I may not be able to post in the next week or two as we continue to work on my new website.

Meanwhile, last week we thought about foods that, not only look like parts of our bodies, but also nourish that body part—the carrot for the eyes, tomatoes for the heart, and walnuts for the brain, etc.

Instead of color-coded, I guess you could say God fruit-and-vegetable-coded us!

Think about long slender stalks of celery, Bok choy, or rhubarb. They’re kind of shaped like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 20% sodium, and these foods are 3% sodium.

If you don’t have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.  Also—

Pleasant words [kind words] are like a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24

Avocados and pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female. They even look like these organs. Today’s research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancer.

And how about this? It takes exactly nine months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in these foods.

For you knit me together in my mother’s womb. Psalm 139:13

Not to leave you gentlemen out, figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the number of sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Here’s my thought: Israel has lots of fig trees, so maybe that’s why the men of the Bible seemed to be prolific with many children.

If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs to the promise. Galatians 3:29

Finally, let’s consider onions. They resemble the body’s cells. (Especially those little pearl onions.) Research shows that onions cleanse waste materials from all the body’s cells. Get this, they even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes.

We’ve all cried when peeling onions. Now you know that your epithelial layers are being washed! (Can you say “epithelial” three times?)

One day, God will do the final eye wash.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. Revelation 7:17b

May we smile with joy at all the intricate wonders our heavenly Father does to make these bodies function and may we do our part in choosing to fill ourselves with good foods.

Bountiful blessings!
