I shared in my last post that I felt the Lord leading me to a new endeavor—engaging my neighbors to be better acquainted and perhaps that might lead to a time of Bible study down the road.
Hmm, noble idea, been thinking about it for a long time, finally ready to follow through. Enter – snow storm!
In Kentucky, we get maybe an inch or two a couple of times a year, but this year, this week (when I’m all up and ready for engagement) the snow fell, ice formed, temperatures plumeted and have lasted for a week!
Now here’s the problem. I realized that I have the names, phone numbers, and emails of the three neighbors to the right, but I have nothing but first names of the four neighbors to the left. We have finally been able to get our car down the driveway with the six-inch snow plus a thick layer of ice. But to get their info, I don’t think I can walk up anyone’s driveway, including my own, without falling. Then here came two more inches of the white stuff! Can’t even get to the mailbox to write them. The mail hasn’t come for a week!
I wanted to get everyone together before we leave for the month of February. I know it doesn’t have to be this month, but I had finally committed to that longtime thought in my head and was ready to plan! My plan A may not be ready to work, so maybe it’s best that I go to God’s plan B.
Life is like that at times. We think about something for a long time, maybe a good thing, even what feels like a God thing, then it falls apart. Maybe we rush too quickly or we out-plan God’s plan. I truly feel this is the next path he wants to take me, but I realize I must be ready for his timing.
That prompted me to look up thoughts on God’s timing. Solomon would remind us, “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. A time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them.” Ecclesiasties 3:1, 2b, 3a, 5a.
At the wedding feast in Cana, Mary wanted Jesus to help with the wine disaster. Jesus said to her, “My time has not come.” (John 2:4) He did reveal his power to a few disciples and some slaves by the miracle of turning the pots of water into wine. But his ultimate revelation didn’t take place until he and the disciples were in the Garden of Gethsemane. He said it in his prayer that fateful night in their presence. “Father, the time has come. Glorify your son that your Son may glorify you.” John 17:1
This morning my devotion contained that tried and true verse from II Corinthians 5:7 – “We live by faith, not by sight.”
Father, help us to regard your timing.

Wow! You’ve had a lot of snow! We were in Orlando and came home to this. Good outlook on your great intentions Joyce. Love you dear
Thanks, Mary Jean. We’ll see how he modifies MY plans with HIS plans.
Praying for perfect timing, Joyce.
Yes, Diana, God’s perfect timing is always best, in spite of our plans.
I think all of our plans went to Plan B or Plan C this month…but perhaps some of those were preferable in the end?
Yes, Karen, I think you’re right. Perhaps a better plan ahead.
